YSD Track Cycling Team

In supporting the quest of realising the nation’s dream of bringing home Malaysia’s first Olympic cycling medal, YSD is sponsoring seven (7) talented riders to form YSD’s Track Cycling Team:

  1. Mohd Azizulhasni Awang
  1. Josiah Ng
  1. Mohd Rizal Tisin
  1. Muhammad Edrus Md Yunus
  1. Junaidi Nasir
  1. Mohamad Hafiz Mohamad Sufian
  1. Fatehah Mustafa

These dedicated athletes are supported by management and support staff (one supportive director, manager, coach. mechanic, masseur, psychologist, sports rapporteur, sponsor’s liaison officer) to ensure that they receive the very best physical and mental preparation for the “Road to London Olympics 2012” – an initiative by the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF), which is an affiliate of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as well as the Asian Cycling Confederation, the sole authority on cycling for Malaysia, and a member of the Olympic Council of Malaysia.

The track team has been registered with the UCI and its riders are participating in all World Cup Classics from 2009 – 2012 as well as Continental Championships, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games to give them the opportunity and exposure needed to gain experience and qualify for the Track World Championships and the 2012 Olympic Games.

YSD’s contribution to this initiative takes the form of a sponsorship amounting to RM 2million for a period of three years in their quest to the 2012 Olympic Games. The sponsorship funds go towards expenses including competition fees, allowances, sports directors’ fees, travel, accommodation and apparel.

By sponsoring a track cycling team, YSD is offering a chance to Malaysia’s most talented young riders who have already proven their capability both at the national and international stage, to continue their careers in professional sports at the highest level and reach their full potential. Their success would set a positive and inspiring example to other young Malaysians who wish to pursue excellence in competitive track cycling and will be able to benefit from the experience gained by the Malaysian track team.
