Remanufactured laptops are produced through an accredited remanufacturing process that restores and transforms used or obsolete parts into good-as-new laptops with a standard 3-year warranty. Besides providing e-learning access to disadvantaged students, remanufactured laptops also contribute to a 75% reduction in carbon footprint. Additionally, the laptops will be disposed of through green IT life-cycle management. Thus, the remanufactured laptops will benefit both the selected underprivileged communities and the environment.

CERDIK is a Government Linked Company (GLC) / Government Linked Investment Company (GLIC) driven Corporate Responsibility (CR) pilot initiative announced in Budget 2021 that aims to provide digital access comprising laptops, tablet computers, and data connectivity worth RM150 million to students from lower-income families.
CERDIK is not a short-term, one-off device donation initiative, but a long-term digital learning project for current and future generations of students.
CERDIK aims to close the digital learning gap for approximately 150,000 students in primary and secondary schools in Malaysia and pilot digital learning models for future adoptions.
The four objectives:
The Yayasan Sime Darby CERDIK is an initiative that distributes remanufactured laptops to support digital learning for selected underprivileged students.
Devices and connectivity packages will be distributed to schools who will, in turn, loan them to eligible students. Students will be able to retain their devices until the completion of studies at their respective schools. Technical support will also be provided to students should the devices require servicing or repair.
The donated laptops will be the Ministry of Education’s property and will be distributed to students via a school computer load scheme.
Parents are required to pay a penalty fee of RM300 if the laptop is damaged, stolen or lost.
Please contact your schoolteacher in charge. You will be receiving a hot swap unit (if critical and available) temporarily, while the damaged one is repaired by a technician who will come to you.
