Our Projects
shaping youth for the future

The Sime Darby Young Innovators Challenge (YIC) is a youth innovation programme designed to help youths in Malaysia develop technical and life skills in the areas of embedded system, problem-solving, innovation, and entrepreneurship through workshops, competitions, and an accelerator camp. This year, Yayasan Sime Darby teamed up with social innovation consultant, Chumbaka to bring the Sime Darby Young Innovators Challenge 2018.

This year, a total of 15 teams from schools in 7 states of Malaysia competed in the Sime Darby Young Innovators Challenge (SDYIC) 2018 National Camp and Championship from 24 to 29 September 2018. In its third edition, the challenge saw the participation of 13 universities whereby university students served as mentors. This enabled them to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)-related fields. Click here to read more about this year's finale.

YSD recently sat down with participants of the challenge, industry experts as well as organisers of the event to discuss current issues pertaining to the job market, the future and our hopes for the next generation.
