Through this programme and with YSD’s funding amounting to RM230,000, Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) in collaboration with IMG Academy (which currently offers the most advanced, multi-sports training facilities at its base in Florida, USA), took on board 6 top Malaysians golf professionals to go through a 3 month development programme.
Mr. Andrew Nicholson, an internationally renowned golf coach and professional golfer, was brought in to help train our local golfers in mental and physical conditioning and tournament preparation methods, which were specially developed to prepare players for the Maybank Malaysian Open 2010.
YSD was also the official sponsor of the Maybank Malaysian Open 2010 by contributing USD 100,000 towards the event, held from 4th to 7th March. Co-sanctioned by the Asian and European Tours, it was the 49th edition of the tournament which featured world ranking players. Sime Darby was also the Host Venue (KLGCC) and Official Car Sponsor (Sime Darby Auto Connection – Hyundai).
