YAYASAN SIME DARBY SETS THE STANDARD FOR TRANSPARENCY IN PHILANTHROPY WITH A+ RATING FROM WIKI IMPACT

Yayasan Sime Darby’s commitment to social impact and transparency recognised with A+ rating in the Foundations Transparency Score Report

Kuala Lumpur, 2 May 2023 – Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD) is thrilled to announce that they have received a 100% score and an A+ rating in the recent Foundations Transparency Score Report by Wiki Impact, a leading source of information on philanthropic organisations.

YSD received a 100% score and an A+ rating in the recent Foundations Transparency Score Report by Wiki Impact, a leading source of information on philanthropic organisations. In Wiki Impact’s findings, YSD is one of only 7 foundations in Malaysia that attained the top score out of more than 1,500 foundations in the report. YSD’s 100% score was attributed to the significance we place on ensuring that the public has complete access to our impact reporting and financial statements, as well as updating our social media and website on the latest achievements and activities. The perfect score reflects YSD’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and accountability.

This recognition is particularly meaningful for YSD as governance has long been emphasised in its operations, with it being specifically included in our mission statement . “The team's sincere dedication towards securing impact and reporting that impact, has paid off - and we are incredibly proud! It makes all the hard work and long hours worthwhile!” said Dr Hjh Yatela Zainal Abidin, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YSD.

“We would also like to congratulate the other foundations in the country who scored well, and hope that our collective commitment to transparency will inspire even greater social and environmental impact for a brighter future for Malaysia.”

Having celebrated their 40th anniversary last year, the foundation remains committed to making a significant impact across its five pillars - Education, Environment, Community & Health, Sports and Arts & Culture. On top of providing educational opportunities to over 4,000 deserving and underprivileged students, the foundation has also reached out to almost 3 million individuals through 856 programmes and events to raise environmental awareness. In fact, environmental conservation is the second largest focus area within YSD, with 25% of their annual spending going towards it. YSD has also aided over 650,000 individuals through its disaster relief initiative under the Community & Health pillar; supported 509 artists, and built the capacity of more that 24,000 individuals under the Arts & Culture pillar; and supported over 7,300 participants, 216 national talents, and 13 state talents in sports.

YSD hopes to continue carrying out important and necessary charitable and conservation efforts with the generous support of Sime Darby Plantation Berhad, Sime Darby Berhad and Sime Darby Property Berhad for a long time to come. It is through their guidance and contributions that YSD is able to achieve this standard of excellence and recognition for it.
