Yayasan Sime Darby invites Sime Darby employees’ children who will commence tertiary education in September 2022 and first-year students to apply for a bursary to pursue their academic dreams at any recognised Malaysian higher learning institutions.
1. Eligibility Requirements
a) Malaysian.
b) Minimum CGPA of 2.50 for STPM/ Pre-University/ Foundation/ Local Matriculation/ Diploma; or minimum of 5 credits for SPM 2021
c) Employee (child’s parent) must be a full-time employee at a Sime Darby company or its subsidiaries in Malaysia only. This privilege will not be extended to employees in associated corporations (‘Associate Companies’ refer to companies which a Sime Darby company’s shareholding is less than 50%).
d) Employee (child’s parent) who is currently seconded to a Sime Darby company’s subsidiary outside Malaysia is eligible for this sponsorship.
e) Employee (child’s parent) per capita income must not exceed RM3,000 per month.
2. Accepted Fields of Study
YSD accepts any fields of study except for medicine.
3. Accepted Universities
YSD welcomes candidates who are currently studying; and those who have obtained firm or conditional offer from any recognised Malaysian higher learning institutions that are approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
4. Value of Scholarship
This bursary award covers tuition fees, living and book allowances up to a maximum amount of RM25,000 per year.
Successful employees’ children will have the opportunity to undergo YSD THRIVE – Rising Talent, a wholesome learning experience specially designed for our Bursary and TVET scholars, including tailored employability skills training, wellness support, mentoring, industry meetups, volunteerism and access to an e-learning platform.
Note: Scholarship monies will be disbursed upon execution of scholarship agreement.
5. Service Bond Period
Bursary recipients are not required to serve a scholarship bond at any of the Sime Darby companies.
